According to Honeydew Police and the Community Policing Forum there has been a sharp increase in motor theft and theft of valuables from remotejam 6vehicles in the area. Statistics show that these are the most common crimes in the sector. Theft of valuables from vehicles happens predominantly at shopping centres, both large and small.

The police state that the perpetrators often use car remote jammers to prevent remotes from locking car doors. They urged residents to check the doors of their cars manually to ascertain that they are closed properly before proceeding with their shopping.
